This picture shows the women's fashion in the 1910s and the significance of hobble skirts which created a straight look. This shows the significance of women looking nice as well as women wearing their clothes more for themselves and less for men. As the timeline approaches flappers, it is seen that the fashion changes and women begin to have more fun and show more freedom in what they wear. The girls in the picture look very neat, yet the fashion is very different from previous years.

The photo shows a flapper girl- a member of the young generation that rejected tradition and ignored gendered clothing. They began to take part in society after working in factories during the war. This generation enjoyed fast living, dancing, and jazz. Many of them would disregard prohibition and drink freely in speakeasies. This relates to our studies because of this and the fact that a new group was growing and began to influence the United States.

This small clip from a magazine shows the new fashion of men that included many stripes and high collars on their shirts. This became the respected style of young men as the styles changes after war. The men changed with the styles of the women as they focused on fast and illegal living with speakeasies. The style was suited to men who became rich through the stock market after the war.

This excerpt is from a Vogue magazine article released after the war was made to show that New York was the new hub instead of Paris. It also was made to show the wild life of younger adults and especially flappers. This relates to what we've studied because it address pre-war and post-war Paris as well as societal changes between these periods. The article was written of course to show women around the world reading the magazine that the city has changed and how it's changed to better help them fit in with society.
